Welcome to Computer class at Union Middle School.

Who takes computer?  6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

When and how long do students have computer?  Students have computer all year long, every-other-day.  We are the opposite class of Physical Education.  Students have computer class every year they are in middle school.

Do students need to have used a computer before? Students do not need to have any prior knowledge on the computer from this class, nor do they need to have a computer at home.

What kind of program are students learning?  Students are learning on Microsoft Windows.

What do students work on?  They will learn everything from keyboarding skills, pamphlet design, poster making, layering skills, to powerpoint presentations.  It is really amazing at how much students learn in such a short amount of time.

Do students use computer in other classes?  A great deal of computer class is integrated with other classrooms in middle school.  There are a lot of projects that include both computer and language arts.

Will my child(ren) be behind if we do not have a computer at home?  No!  Some assignments do not even require the computer ~ rather their notes.
If the computer is required, students are given class time to complete the assignment.  They need to use their time very wisely.  The lab is also open in the morning before school, from 1:00-2:15, and after school.  There are also computers in the media center.

I am available from:
